GiveBack Yoga is a nationwide program that provides Veterans with free yoga lessons. Yoga is helpful for veterans with PTSD (VA National Center for PTSD); research also finds yoga participants had greater muscle strength and endurance, flexibility and cardiorespiratory fitness (Harvard Medical School).
We are fortunate to have Jeff Masters as our GiveBack Yoga instructor. Jeff is a former Army sergeant, trainer of yoga instructors and gives yoga classes all over the United States in addition to teaching at our own Sedona Yoga Festival. He also owns and operates The Masters Institute Clinic in West Sedona.
GiveBack Yoga will be held on every Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or beach towel with you. Non- veterans may also participate with a $5 donation.

AEMP – A History of Giving
For 25 years Arizona Elks have supported research at the UofA Steele Children’s Research Center. As Steele celebrates their 25 years of attacking diseases plaguing children, Arizona Elks are proud they have been with them the whole time.
This Silver Anniversary marks more than $6 million in giving by Arizona Elks Major Projects. Money that has done incredible things- 2 endowed chairs continuing to give, a Translational Research Center in Phoenix, The Marvin Lewis Pediatric Teaching Center, and the Arizona Elks Clinic for Children and Young Adults.
There is an old proverb called “For Want of a Nail.” It has several forms, but simply put:
For want of a nail the shoe was lost
For want of a shoe the horse was lost
For want of a horse the rider was lost
For want of a rider, the battle was lost
For want of the battle the war was lost
For want of the war, the Kingdom was lost
All for the want of a nail.
Our Arizona Elks Major Projects has provided an entire box of nails to the Steele Center; the latest a $150,000 Confocal Microscope. A recent press release from Steele celebrates a $1.73 million National Institute of Health grant awarded to Steele for work on Autoimmune Diseases. A grant based on a research done by Pawel Kiela and Dr. Fayez Ghishan. The Confocal Microscope was critical to this research.
So celebrate 25 years of Research at the Steele Center, and while you are at it, celebrate 15 years of the Jack C. Warter youth Camp. Celebrate 79 Years of Arizona Elks Major Projects, and let’s think of a special way to do more.
Let’s make this 25th Anniversary one to remember!
